Astronaut Stafford’s funeral to be Friday in Weatherford

Astronaut and Oklahoman General Thomas P. Stafford will be buried Friday in Weatherford, his hometown.

Stafford, born in Weatherford in 1930 died March 18. He was 93.

His body lie in state Wednesday and Thursday at the Stafford Air and Space Museum where space items from his several trips into space are on display.

Several fellow astronauts are expected to speak during the Friday funeral at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1510 E. Davis in Weatherford.

The funeral will also include a military fly-over and color guard salute.
