Crude oil prices made gains on Wednesday

As US crude inventories fell by 1.4 million barrels last week, it resulted in a slight gain in crude oil prices on Wednesday. At the same time, it was an indication that U.S. refiners are ramping up output ahead of the summer driving season.

West Texas Intermediate crude finished up 61 cents or 0.8% to close at $78.99 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude gained 42 cents or 0.5% and finished the day at $84.58 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

June natural gas fell 2 cents to $2.19 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded losses in Wednesday’s trading with a few exceptions. Empire Petroleum soared with a 12% gain and Mammoth Energy rose more than 4%.

The Texas Energy Report showed other energy stocks were also mixed for the day.

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) down 0.08 at 26.98 – change 0.26%

NOV Inc. (NOV) down 0.04 at 18.92 – change 0.22%
