Growing worries about escalating warfare in the Middle East sent crude prices up on Friday

The growing prospects of an Iranian response to an apparent attack by Israel that killed 7 Iranian military members in Syria resulted in a Friday 1% gain in crude oil prices.

Some believe Iran might respond and added to Israel’s fighting in Gaza, it only resulted in more concern about what it could do to world oil demand.

West Texas Intermediate crude rose 64 cents to $85.66 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude finished up 71 cents at $90.45 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

For the week, WTI was down more than 1% while Brent slipped 0.8%.

May natural gas rose 1 cent to $1.77 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks finished down for the week with 4% declines recorded by Empire Petroleum and Mammoth Energy Services.
