Oklahoma fights with tribes over mining regulations

Oklahoma is at odds with Indian tribes in a dispute over whether the state should control or regulate surface mining on the Cherokee, Choctaw and Muscogee reservations.

The state isn’t backing down after a federal judge ruled the tribes should control the regulations based on the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision reported The Oklahoman.
