Xcel’s Colorado customers couldn’t lower their thermostats

Xcel customers in Colorado learned the hard way this week about who really controls their home thermostats.

Some 22,000 customers who joined the company’s AC Rewards program were locked out from controlling their own air conditioners on Tuesday. Excel remotely set their thermostats at 80 degrees according to Blaze Media.
