Gains recorded in US and Oklahoma rig counts

The U.S. and Oklahoma saw more gains of oil and gas rigs in the past week, according to a weekly report issued by Baker Hughes Co.

Baker Hughes showed the nation had a 3-rig increase to reach 629. The number of oil rigs gained 3 to reach 506 while the total of gas rigs declined by one to 119. The U.S. count is still 120 fewer than a year ago when there were 749 oil and gas rigs. The decline in the past year included 86 oil rigs and 35 gas rigs.

Oklahoma’s count increased by one for a total of 45, still below the 61 rigs reported by Baker Hughes a year ago.

Texas saw its total decline by two to 299 while New Mexico added one rig for a total of 103. North Dakota remained at 32 rigs and Colorado was unchanged at 16.

The Red Top Rig Report by the Independent Oil and Gas Service reported the count in Kansas declined two to a total of 19 rigs.

Ohio stayed at 12 and Pennsylvania remained at 24 rigs. West Virginia added one to reach 8 rigs and Wyoming’s count was unchanged at 11 rigs.

The Permian Basin rig count grew by one for a total of 315 followed by the Eagle Ford at an unchanged 52 total. The Haynesville total declined by two to 41 and the Marcellus added one to reach 32 rigs. The Williston Basin remained at 34 rigs.

The Arkoma Woodford was unchanged at one rig—so was the Ardmore Basin. The Cana Woodford count grew by one to 22 rigs while the Barnett continued for another week with no reported rig activity, according to Baker Hughes.

The DJ Basin continued with 12 rigs and the Granite Wash remained at 5 rigs. The Mississippian saw no change and remained at two rigs. The Utica continued with 12 rigs.
